I’m moving from Minneapolis to southern California in late August. I know it’s going to be tough money wise, but I’ll have enough saved up to start, and I’m going out next week to start interviews. I have minimal belongings that I will need to bring out. I’m just going to send out a few boxes, then fly out. Still, I’d still like to save as much on the move as possible.

Does anyone have any tips for moving across the country from their own experience? I’m very excited it – I’ll have many more job options, and the climate’s obviously much nicer, but I’m still a bit nervous and I don’t really know anyone out there. I’d love to hear from other people who have done the same!
Also, does anyone know the cheapest way to ship a few large boxes? What company do I use?

I have been seriously considering moving to Minneapolis from my hometown of Winnipeg, Canada, in about seven years. If you [have] live[d] there or visited there recently, can you please give me some tips about the following things?

-climate
-cost of living/taxes
-crime rates
-major economic sectors
-general feel of the city
-good places to eat, shop, etc.
-whether or not it’s a good place for an aspiring political commentator to live

I am considering relocation to Phoenix AZ from my Minnesota home to see if the sunshine and warmth would be better for me, due to a serious medical condition. If there is anyone around who lives in or around that area -could you tell me some things such as cost of living arrangements, climate, job market outlook, music scene, or could point me to a good information website that I could peruse and make an educated desicion and some tentative plans?

I am currently living in Minnesota, USA and wat to move to a warmer climate. I am a US Vet that is legally blind and I need to live close to a VA Blind Center. Furunately the VA has a Blind Center in San Juan but I am having a hard time finding help to relocate there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!!!
